What a Queensland Plumbing Licence Covers
Queensland requires an occupational licence before anyone carries out plumbing or drainage work, and a contractor licence before a firm can offer that work to the public. The QBCC issues both.
An occupational licence proves the person holds the trade skills. A contractor licence proves the firm can run jobs properly and stand behind them.
Three licence classes cover the work we do:
- The plumber's licence authorises pipework and fixture work, excluding jobs that carry their own endorsement requirement.
- The drainer's licence authorises below-ground drainage, with the same endorsement exception.
- Gas work needs a separate gas work licence, held by licensed gasfitters only. Our gas fitters hold that licence.
How a Plumbing Job Runs From Call to Finish
- 1

You Describe the Fault
Tell us what's happening by phone or message. We ask the follow-up questions that narrow the problem down before anyone arrives.
- 2

We Diagnose and Quote
We find the cause on site, then give a fixed quote before any work starts, with flat-rate pricing and no hidden fees. The work begins once you approve the figure.
- 3

We Do the Work and Test It
We carry out the repair or the install, then test it before we pack up. Nothing gets signed off while a fault is still showing.
- 4

You Pay and Get the Paperwork
You pay on the day by card or EFTPOS, or choose Fix now, pay later. Any Form 4 or gas compliance certificate goes to you at handover.

How Plumbing Work Is Regulated in Queensland
Oversight is split between two bodies: the QBCC looks after licensing and the notifiable work register, while Brisbane City Council issues permits and sends inspectors. Regulated work falls into three categories, and a licensed tradesperson must do all of them.
The paperwork you receive depends on the job:
- After notifiable work, the owner receives a Form 4 copy, and the QBCC can provide one if yours never arrives.
- When gas work finishes on a new install or alteration, the gasfitter gives you a gas compliance certificate straight away and lodges a copy with the network operator within 5 days.
- An owner can request that the council inspect notifiable work at any stage.
The QBCC says using licensed tradespeople for regulated work protects the home, the owner's health and the owner's rights. That is the whole point of the system, and it is why the licence number sits at the top of this page.
The Suburbs We Work Across
Our plumbers work across Everton Park and the neighbouring suburbs on one regular run. Mitchelton and Everton Hills both have pages of their own, and the Suburbs We Cover list sets out the full catchment.
From a dripping mixer to a full bathroom renovation, the same licensed team takes the call. Our bathroom renovation plumbing page shows what that larger work involves.
Questions About Licences and Paperwork
Call (07) 3524 7163How do I check a plumber is licensed in Queensland?
Search the QBCC register online by name or licence number to confirm the plumber's licence. The same registers let you search by address, which shows whether a Form 4 was lodged for that property.
Does gas work at my Everton Park home need a separate licence?
Yes, gas work sits on its own licence in Queensland, held by licensed gasfitters only. You're entitled to sight that licence before any gas job starts at your place.
Who inspects plumbing work in Queensland homes?
Brisbane City Council issues plumbing permits and sends inspectors, and an owner can request an inspection of notifiable work at any stage. The QBCC handles the licensing side and keeps the register of notifiable jobs.
What does QBCC licensed mean for my Everton Park plumbing job?
QBCC licensed means the QBCC has issued an occupational licence to the person doing the work and a contractor licence to the business behind it. The correct term is QBCC licensed, never certified, and every job is done by a licensed plumber.
